Deveri Gifford: "I have collaborated with Lisa when she shared her kitchen space with us so we could cater a Christmas party, and when she contributed her time, ideas and bakery to our Foodlab council meeting, possibly other times too. The gifts and talent she has shared with me are her generosity, insights into staff management, delicious baked goods and inspiring me to be a better Instagrammer!
Being a part of the Foodlab community is a constant inspiration for me, it keeps me connected to our core values of a just and sustainable food system, it offers support for maintaining those values, and for striving to do better. It connects me to a food community that I might not otherwise meet. It provides support for the day to day challenges of running a small business. And it keeps me motivated when I feel worn down!"

Lisa Ludwinski: "I worked with Deveri as a participant in her FoodLab Council this past summer, where we gathered to discuss what it's like running a kitchen staff, and brainstorm ideas for how to do it better.
I contributed to a conversation related to Brooklyn Street Local, as Deveri had been doing some soul searching about leading and inspiring a team of passionate employees. I was able to offer my own experience with the Sister Pie staff - both what insight I have gained so far and where I feel I am falling short/need improvement.
FoodLab is important to me for the relationships, the support, and the information. Ever since joining in 2013, I've been lucky enough to meet a variety of food entrepreneurs who all have one thing in common: the desire to grow and become successful in the most sustainable, thoughtful way possible. From those relationships, we all gain support and can lean on each other when we need help or advice. Beyond that, the tools that FoodLab gave me access to while I was in the initial stages of building my business were incredibly helpful, and made me not feel so entirely alone in what can be a very lonely (and confusing!) process."
